Basic Grade Class Description

BASIC GRADE

In this one week class you will learn how to work with the engineers ruler using tenths and hundreths. How to calculate basic quantities. How to work with elevatins, figuring cut or fill to finis grade and subgrade. How to interpret and work with grade stakes, while learning the basic grade setting and the staking process. In the field you will learn how to use optical levels, lasers, eye levels, levels, standard rods and lenker rods. You will also get a basic introduction to plan reading.

TIME: 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.

REQUIRED FOR APPRENTICES IN THEIR SECOND YEAR.

OBJECTIVES:

Learn to use the basic tools and principles required to understand the basic staking and plan reading process.

THIS CLASS CONSISTS OF:

20 hours classroom

20 hours lab

40 hours Total Instruction

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

Hardhat, safety vest, work clothes, work boots.
