APPRENTICE WAGE RATES

JUNE 1, 2011 - MAY 31, 2012

2011-2012 Apprenticeship Classes

Remember, you need 160 hours of Related Instruction per academic year (June 1 to May 31), for your first and second years and 80 hours your third year - for a total of 400* hours over the course of your apprenticeship. Plus, you must also keep your certifications current throughout your apprenticeship.

Please remember that work is NOT an excuse to miss your scheduled class.  If you are still working when your class is scheduled please call the school and we will arrange for a replacement while you are here at the school.

You may take other classes in addition to those required during your respective apprenticeship year but you must complete the mandatory classes for each year.

*You must complete 400 hours of Related Instruction no matter how much credit you were given toward your apprenticeship. For example: If you were brought in with 4500 hours of credit, you must still take 400 hours of RI.

  • 1st Year Apprentices - Classes are scheduled by the Training Center for First Year apprentices. You will receive a letter in the mail indicating your classes.
    In the first year of your apprenticeship you must take the following classes*:
    CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS (40 HRS.)
    40-HOUR HAZMAT (40 HRS.)
    BASIC EQUIPMENT (80 HRS.)
  • 2nd Year Apprentices - Some Second Year classes are scheduled by the Training Center. You will receive a letter in the mail indicating your classes and what other courses you may need to register for
    on your own.
    In your second year you must take:
    BASIC MAINTENANCE (40 HRS.)
    BASIC GRADE (40 HRS.)
    CHOICE OF HEAVY HIGHWAY, BASIC EXCAVATING OR BASIC CRANE (80 HRS.)
  • 3rd Year Apprentices - Third year apprentices must schedule their own classes.In your third year you must take:
    HYDRAULIC OR FRICTION CRANE, DOZER, MOTOR GRADER, ADV. EXCAVATING, ETC.) (80 HRS.)

FOX VALLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE FEES
JUNE 1, 2011 - MAY 31, 2012

40 HOUR CLASSES - $116.95
80 HOUR CLASSES - $258.16

TRANSITION TO TRAINER CLASS - $27.47

These fees are payable on the first day of class. Checks should be made out to:
Wisconsin Operating Engineers SIAF.
